Great stop before Norseman, stayed in one of the rooms in the stone cottage and while basic, very comfortable. Towels, soap, bar fridge and an a/c. Very quaint camp kitchen and dining hall with wifi. We made our own meals but the home cooked dinner looked amazing. Toilets, shower and laundry facilities were all great.

Didn't stay in a room as I am a camper. Brilliant location and super friendly and helpful staff. Great facilities and well equipped camp kitchen. Lovely walks that me and the doggo enjoyed. Highly recommended and great value.

Spent a night here in our van. Excellent site for stopovers! Basic dinner and breakfast was offered, but we used the BBQ. These were spotless and worked well. The toilets and showers again, were spotless. Cannot fault this place

What a pearler of a place. Great sites (we loved no. 1 though we copped the arvo sun), lovely setting as well as clean and roomy amenities. Beautiful sunset and the stars were amazing. The camp kitchen is in an old stone building so was not only cool but interesting too. Highly recommend.

Sometimes we drive more than our standard daily limit, and this was one stop for an overnight stay. We have been informed that it closed at 8:30 PM for late check-in and that payment was made at the restaurant, which offers beautiful natural scenery and is clean. In the morning, we saw animal footprints on the ground. Support local businesses and highly recommended!

How do I give this station stay ten stars ? A wonderful stopover on the Eyre Highway, a delightful break from the tired, worn out roadhouses. Spacious powered caravan sites amongst the bushland and the historic station buildings. The station has its own bar and restaurant with great food and the chance to share Nullabor tales with other travellers. Wonderfully staffed and organised. As I am caravanning I can’t comment on the cabins.

Stayed two nights and the place is fantastic. The powered sites are large and well maintained. They are strategically placed so that natural vegetation offers on most of them a degree of privacy. The ablutions are immaculate. They offer laundry facilities at $4.00 per machine. There is also a communal dining room where one choice of dinner is offered each night. The dining room also hosts a small bar. This will be our go to stop rather than Norseman. A gem of a place.

We stayed 3 nights. Loved. Every. Minute. It was the quiet retreat we were looking for. The nightly meals were hearty and delish in a community dining room & licensed!! The amenities were spotless, even laundry facilities.Large gravel powered sites and screened with native vegetation from others. Plenty of bins. Abundant wildlife and bushwalks available, ( not tried by us but reported by others as spectacular vistas). Plenty to see.

About Fraser Range Station

Fraser Range Station is a true outback destination, rich in history and set within the vast Great Western Woodlands along the Eyre Highway. Surrounded by towering blackbutts, salmon gums and gimlets, this remarkable landscape features dense eucalyptus forest, sweeping grass flats, and dramatic granite peaks, including Mount Pleasant, rising 579 metres above the plains.

First identified by John and Alexander Forrest during their 1870 expedition, Fraser Range was established by the Dempster brothers in 1872, becoming the first pastoral station on the Nullarbor Plain. Isolated and bordered only by Southern Hills Station, it remains enveloped by the world’s largest temperate hardwood forest.

More than a century ago, shepherds moved sheep across the station’s open flats before annual shearing at the homestead. Wool was then hauled by camel team to Point Malcolm and shipped to Adelaide. 

Fraser Range is far from the flat landscape many associate with the Nullarbor. Its granite hills, abundant wildlife, seasonal wildflowers and immense skies make it an exceptional place for photography, bird watching, bush walking, and experiencing Australia’s pastoral heritage firsthand.
